This is my individual analysis of our group’s digital artefact creation. The name for our group is the Jade group which consists of Jourdan(me), Ines, Amy and Kemmy. At the beginning of our research, we unanimously decided to do something different. As students ourselves, we all know and feel the pressures of deadlines and exams. That’s why we decided to present our topic on 3d modelling with cute Squishmallow that reduce anxiety and stress. With the goal of making our digital artefact a 3d model using a process called Photogrammetry. As mentioned before our topic will be based on these soft and plush toys called Squishmallow. The Squishmallow soft toy itself has a diverse range of colours and textures. One of the reasons why this is appealing to us is because we know that photogrammetry can capture texture and colour that a 3d scanner could find challenging. Although I have thought about using a 3d scanner when making our model. I have decided against this as 3d scanners are quite expensive and it requires some form of experience with the equipment. This results in our group picking photogrammetry as we believe that this works the best with our topic. My role in this group’s digital artefact creation is being the project coordinator and 3d modeller. I was responsible for coordinating our members on what needed to be done. As well as making the 3d models with PolyCam and uploading them to SketchFab. I have made two 3d models with different amounts of pictures which makes them quite unique from one another. After making the 3d models and presenting them to the DH group. I would say that our models were quite successful based on the fact that this was my first time making them. In the end, I enjoyed the process of making the 3d models itself and working with brilliant group members to make this group project the best it could be.
